Yes. Your plan is a valid tapa.

    How it is counted

    • Each upvaas is Anashan (external tapa). So 1st two days upvaas + a parna day + next five days upvaas = 7 separate upvaas. This is fully valid as tapa during Paryushan.
    • Because of the parna in between, it will not be counted as an unbroken Atthai (8 continuous days). It is simply 7 individual upvaas done within Paryushan.

    What to keep in niyam/pachchhakkhan

    • State clearly: “I will do 2 upvaas, then parna, then 5 upvaas,” with chauvihar (nothing after sunset) throughout.
    • Upvaas: no food; only properly filtered/boiled water in daytime (not after sunset). Do daily pratikraman.
    • Parna: do after sunrise, within the proper time as per local maryadā; keep it simple and sattvik.

    Tradition notes (kept simple)

    • Shvetāmbara: upvaas generally with boiled water only in daylight; no water at night.
    • Digambara: also uphold no food (and generally no water at night); follow your guru/sangh’s maryadā.
    • Either way, your sequence counts as tapa, but not as a continuous Attham/Atthai.

    Essence

    • Continuous tapas (like Atthai) require no parna in between.
    • With a parna day, each fast is counted separately, and the punya of each upvaas is complete.
