“4 tirth sthapak” (chatur tirth sthapak) refers to the Tirthankar (Arihant). A Tirthankar establishes the four‑fold tirth (chaturvidh sangh):

• Sadhu (monks)
• Sadhvi (nuns)
• Shravak (laymen)
• Shravika (laywomen)

Both Shwetambar and Digambar traditions accept that the Tirthankar is the establisher of this fourfold sangh.
