“Pālna‑ji” means the cradle ceremony done for Bhagwān Mahāvīr’s Janma‑Kalyānak (birth).

When it is observed:

• Shwetāmbara tradition:

- Every year on Mahāvīr Jayanti (Chaitra Shukla Trayodashī, usually March–April). - During Paryushan, the Janma‑Vanchan and Pālna are usually done on the 6th day of Paryushan in the temple.

• Digambara tradition:

- Pālna is generally not performed; focus is on Das‑Lakshan and other vrat‑anushthān.
