Bhindi can eat
Yes. In Jain diet, bhindi (okra) is generally permissible for householders because it is not a root/underground vegetable.
Basic Jain guidelines to follow:
- Wash thoroughly, cut after washing, and check for any insects/worms.
- Cook fresh and consume in daylight; avoid eating at night.
- Avoid if you have taken special vows where vegetables are restricted (e.g., Ayambil, certain Paryushan/Chaturmas observances). In such vows, keep only what your pachkhan allows.
Notes on traditions:
- Both Shwetambar and Digambar householders may eat bhindi with the above care. Monastics observe stricter rules.
