Which time we boil second kaal water in morning
In Jain maryada, “second kāl water” means water that has been re‑boiled a second time. Its valid time is always counted from the moment of that second boil.
Simple rule for morning:
- Boil only after sunrise (never before sunrise, never after sunset).
- Do the second boil once there is daylight—many families do it in the morning between sunrise and late‑morning so it stays valid for the rest of the day.
- The “kal” (validity) then runs from that second‑boil time, according to your maryada/season.
Typical practice (verify with your guru‑paramparā):
- Shvetāmbara: Kal is measured in prahar (about 3 hours each) and often varies by season. After you re‑boil in the morning, the allowed hours are counted from that time.
- Digambara: Use only daytime, freshly boiled water; if re‑boiling is done, it is within the same daylight window, and the count starts from the second boil.
Example
- If sunrise is at 6:00 am and you re‑boil at 8:30 am, the “second kāl” starts at 8:30 am and lasts as per your maryada (e.g., 9–12–15 hours by season, or daytime‑only), after which you should make fresh water.
