In Jain tradition, the statement “Krishna had 72,000 mothers” is not correct.

• In Jain universal history, Krishna is a Vasudeva (one of the 63 Shalaka Purushas). His mother is Devaki. He was also raised by his foster mother Yashoda. Saying he had “72,000 mothers” has no basis in Jain scriptures.
• Jain texts also note that the mothers of all nine Vasudevas are traditionally named Devaki.
