According to Jain tradition, Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara, had the highest number of Gandharas (chief disciples). He had 11 Gandharas. No other Tirthankara is described as having more than this number of Gandharas. The names of Mahavira's eleven Gandharas are well-known in Jain scriptures.
