Why can’t women do puja of manibharadada
Short answer: There is no rule in Jain Agams that says women cannot worship Manibhadra Dada.
What people see in some derasars is a local maryada (custom) of that temple or sangh. In many Shwetambar communities, certain “Veer” rituals of Manibhadra Dada (like special yantra‑sthāpana, havan, or night anushthāns with strict niyam) are limited to selected participants. Some sanghs keep these particular roles for men who have taken specific temporary vows for that ritual. This is explained as protecting the discipline of the rite and following long‑standing paramparā, not as a statement about women’s spiritual ability.
Important points:
- Jain siddhānt: Every soul is equal in capacity for liberation, regardless of gender. Any restriction you see is lokāchār (custom), not doctrine.
- In many places, women freely do darshan, aarti, mantra‑jap, chaityavandan, and take prasad of Manibhadra Dada. Only a few specialized “Veer” rites may be role‑restricted by local maryada.
- Practices can vary widely by derasar and by Shwetambar sub‑tradition; Digambar tradition generally does not have this specific devotion.
If you’re visiting a particular derasar, simply follow that place’s maryada.
