Why are Jain’s so super orthodox and weird
Jainism teaches a path of non-violence (ahimsa), self-discipline, and spiritual development to liberate the soul from the cycle of birth and death (samsara). The practices and principles followed by Jains, such as strict vegetarianism, carefulness in actions, and renunciation, are rooted in deep compassion for all living beings and a commitment to minimizing harm.
What may seem "orthodox" or "weird" from an outside perspective is, for Jains, a sincere effort to live by the core teachings of their tradition. These practices help cultivate self-control, purity of mind, and spiritual progress. Jainism emphasizes the importance of understanding and respecting the perspectives and beliefs of others (anekantavada), and encourages tolerance and non-judgment.
In summary, Jain practices are based on the core values and philosophical teachings of the religion, aimed at spiritual upliftment and non-violence.
