when to do raishi pratikraman
Raisi (Rai) Pratikraman means the morning Pratikraman done for faults of the previous night.
When to do it
- Best: early morning after sunrise, during the first prahar of the day (roughly within about 3 hours of sunrise).
- Many maryādās also keep it within one muhurt of sunrise (about 48 minutes), as early as possible and before taking food (Navkārsi).
- If you miss the ideal time, do it the same morning at the earliest you can, with sincere bhāva.
Tradition notes
- Shwetambar: commonly observed twice daily—Raisi (morning) and Devasi (evening). Timing follows the above guideline.
- Digambar: Pratikraman is also practiced with similar morning-evening discipline; exact clock times can vary by local maryādā. Follow your sangh/ācārya’s guidance.
