If white discharge comes during pooja

    12 months ago 459

In Jain Dharma, pooja must be done with shuddhi (cleanliness) of body, clothes, place, and mind. If any white discharge occurs during pooja:

    • Stop the pooja quietly. Do not touch the idol or pooja items further.
    • Clean yourself properly. If possible, take a bath and change into clean clothes; otherwise at least wash the affected area and hands well.
    • If anything became soiled, clean or replace it before resuming.
    • After regaining external shuddhi, begin again with Navkar Mantra and do a brief alochana–pratikraman for any carelessness, keeping the mind calm and modest.

    Notes by tradition

    • Shwetambar and Digambar both emphasize shuddhi. If there is any bodily impurity or soiling, pause, cleanse, and only then continue. Local temple maryada may add details; follow that respectfully.

    For women

    • If it is a natural, non-menstrual discharge and nothing is soiled, you may sit aside and do manasik jaap (mental recitation) until you can cleanse, then resume. If clothes are soiled, first clean and change, then continue.

    For men

    • If it was seminal discharge (śukra), treat it as ashuchi: stop, bathe, wear fresh clothes, and only then resume with humility and restraint.

    Helpful references

    • Simple daily pooja steps (focus on cleanliness before starting):
    • Short guidance for Pratikraman (to do briefly before resuming):

If such discharge is frequent or due to a health condition, address the health cause separately; for pooja, the Jain way is simple: pause, attain external and internal shuddhi, then continue with Navkar Mantra and equanimity.
