Yaksha and Yakshini of Bhagwan Parshvanath (Parasnath)

• Yaksha (Shasan Dev): Dharanendra

- Nagaraja (serpent‑king) who protected Parshvanath during the upasarga caused by Kamatha/Meghmali by spreading his many‑hooded canopy above the meditating Tirthankar. - Shown as serpent‑associated deity; usually placed on Parshvanath’s left side from the devotee’s viewpoint.

• Yakshini (Shasan Devi): Padmavati

- Protective attendant goddess of Parshvanath; closely linked with Dharanendra in the Parshvanath narrative. - Iconography: often yellow/green hue, four arms, lotus and other auspicious symbols; serpent canopy; vehicle often shown as rooster‑with‑serpent (kukkuta‑sarpa). - Usually placed on Parshvanath’s right side from the devotee’s viewpoint.

Notes on traditions

• Both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions agree that Parshvanath’s Yaksha is Dharanendra and Yakshini is Padmavati.
• Minor differences appear in temple placement and iconographic details (number of hands, specific emblems), as per local and sect customs, but the identities remain the same.
