Doha for deep pija
Here are simple Jain bhakti dohas you can recite for Deepak Poojan (Deep Pija). They are devotional, aligned with Jain principles, and not from the canonical Āgamas. Use them with the bhāv of kindling inner knowledge rather than asking for worldly favors.
1) Hindi (Devanagari) दीपक नहीं, ज्ञान का दीप प्रगटाऊँ मैं; मोह-अँधेरा हरूँ, जिनवर गुण गाऊँ मैं।
Arth (meaning) I do not worship just a lamp; I kindle the lamp of right knowledge. May the darkness of delusion fade as I sing the virtues of the Jinas.
2) Hindi (Devanagari) तेजोमय अरिहंत चरण, अर्पित यह दिव्य दीप; जागे सम्यग्दर्शन भीतर, मिटे कषाय-भीत।
Arth (meaning) At the radiant feet of the Arihants I offer this holy lamp. May true vision awaken within, and the wall of passions fall.
How to use
- Light the deep with pure intention, recall the qualities of Arihant–Siddha–Āchārya–Upādhyāya–Sādhu, and recite one doha softly before or after the aarti/Deepak Poojan.
- Keep the inner focus on samyag-darshan, samyag-jnān, and samyag-chāritra.
Tradition note
- Both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions perform Deepak Poojan as a bhakti practice; wording varies by community, but the core intention is the same: lighting the inner lamp of knowledge and removing delusion. No boon-seeking is involved; it is a reminder to cultivate inner purity.
If you want a short refrain to repeat between steps of the pujan: “जिनवाणी ज्योति जगे, अंतःकरण निर्मल हो।” Arth: May the light of Jinavani arise; let the heart become pure.
