can i eat ghee podi idli in paryushan
Short answer: No. Please avoid ghee podi idli during Paryushan.
Why:
- Idli uses fermented batter. Fermented foods are avoided in Paryushan.
- Podi (spice powder) may contain garlic or other restricted items. During Paryushan, such ingredients are not taken.
- Ghee itself is allowed in general, but not if you are doing Ayambil (there ghee, oil, milk, curd, etc. are avoided). Also, eat only in daylight.
Safer simple options instead:
- Plain rice with a little ghee and moong dal (no onion/garlic).
- Very simple khichdi (without leafy or root vegetables).
- Freshly cooked grains/rotis with minimal dry spices.
- If on Ayambil, take one very plain meal without ghee/oil/milk/curd/sugar.
