Which pachalhan should take if u r gng to deink water

    12 months ago 42

You should take “Jal Pachchakkhan” (also called Paaniya Pachkhan) before drinking water.

How to take it (simple and proper):

    • Say the vow clearly before drinking.
    • Specify these points: what kind of water, how many times, till what time, and any limits.

    Sample wording (easy English/Hinglish):

    • “I take Jal Pachchakkhan to drink only previously boiled and filtered water, during daylight hours, maximum 2 times, only as needed, without any living impurities.”
    • “Huṁ boiled ane ghanṭiyuṁ pāṇī divasmaṁ (suryāsta sudhī) vadhāre māṁ vār na pīś, jarūr anusar be vār sudhī, jīv-himsā thi bāhar.”

If at night (only when truly necessary):

    • “I take Rātri Jal Pachchakkhan to drink only previously boiled and filtered water between 7:00–9:00 pm, one time only, and nothing after that.”

    Notes by tradition:

    • Shvetāmbara: Often taken from Guru/pravartak; wording as above is acceptable when taken personally in absence of Guru.
    • Digambara: Same principle (Pratyākhyāna). State boiled/filtered water, number of times, and time limit. Night drinking should be avoided; if unavoidable, take a very restricted time-bound pachkhan.

    Essentials to remember:

    • Use only previously boiled and properly filtered water.
    • Prefer daylight; avoid after sunset unless there is unavoidable need and you have taken a strict time-bound pachkhan.
    • Keep the count you declared (e.g., 1 or 2 times) and do not exceed it.
    • Maintain care to avoid himsā (strain/filter well and check the vessel).
