What is siddhsheela
Siddhashila (also spelled Siddha-shila) is the topmost, pure realm at the apex of the Jain universe where all liberated souls (Siddhas) eternally reside.
- Meaning: “Siddha” = liberated/perfected soul; “shila” = region/abode. It is the abode of liberation.
- Location: At the very top of loka (the Jain universe), above all heavens. No birth, death, or karma operates there.
- Who resides there: Every soul that has destroyed all karmas—Tirthankaras and all other Siddhas—goes to Siddhashila after final liberation (moksha).
- State of the soul there: No body, no senses, no movement, no return. Each soul remains distinct, abiding forever in its own space-point, experiencing the four infinites: infinite knowledge (anant jnan), infinite perception (anant darshan), infinite bliss (anant sukh), and infinite energy (anant virya).
- Tradition notes: Both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions equally affirm Siddhashila as the supreme abode of Siddhas at the universe’s summit. Differences are mainly in cosmological diagrams or terminology, not in doctrine.
