Hair wash need need to be done at second day or third day of menstruation ?
In Jain Dharma there is no scriptural rule that says you must wash your hair on the 2nd day or the 3rd day of menstruation. Menstruation is a natural process. Cleanliness (shauch) is encouraged every day, so you may wash your hair whenever needed.
Simple Jain maryada to keep in mind:
- Prefer bathing and hair-wash in daylight hours.
- Use only the needed amount of water; avoid very hot water to minimize himsa.
- Comb gently and avoid unnecessary hair-pulling; dispose of fallen hair carefully.
- During periods, many families keep traditional limits for temple/pooja; follow your own sangh/family maryada.
Digambar and Shwetambar: There is no sect-specific rule about which day to wash hair; practices vary by local tradition only.
