What are the stanzas of bursa sutra

    12 months ago 78

By “bursa sutra” you likely mean the Uvasaggaharam Sutra (Uvasaggaharam Stotra) — a revered Jain hymn in praise of Bhagwan Parshvanath, traditionally attributed to Acharya Bhadrabahu. Below are the commonly recited five gāthās (stanzas) in the original Prakrit (Devanagari) with a very simple arth.

Arth: I bow to Bhagwan Parshvanath—free from karmas, destroyer of all poisons and calamities, the very abode of auspiciousness and welfare.

Arth: One who devoutly holds (remembers) the “Visahara Phullinga” mantra becomes free from planetary troubles, diseases, epidemics and fierce fevers.

Arth: Even leaving the mantra aside, mere obeisance to You yields great fruits; humans and animals are protected from sorrow and misfortune.

Arth: By gaining right-faith shown by You—superior to wish‑fulfilling jewel and tree—souls smoothly attain the unaging, immortal state (moksha‑mārg).

Arth: O greatly glorious Lord! With a heart full of devotion I have praised You; O Parshva‑Jinchandra, grant me true wisdom/right‑faith in every life.

    Notes on recitation and traditions

    • Both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions revere this stotra. Minor differences exist in the number of gāthās included in practice (some path-shālās recite 5; other regional/sectarian traditions include additional gāthās or a concluding phala-śruti). The core meaning remains the same—seeking removal of obstacles and firm establishment in samyak‑darshan.
