If there is death in family than can a devotee do puja at derasar? Even Shauk isn't completed and also no 3 days of death
Short answer: No. During shok/ashauch (sutak) after a death in one’s close family, a devotee should not do murtipuja, abhishek, aarti, or enter the garbhagriha of a derasar. This restraint is kept until the ashauch period is completed.
- Shwetambar (Murtipujak): Common maryada is to avoid puja/abhishek/aarti and not enter the sanctum during ashauch; darshan from outside without touching is generally allowed. After the prescribed period (often observed as up to three days in many sanghs), normal puja resumes as per local maryada.
- Digambar: The maryada is also to refrain from abhishek/puja and entering the sanctum during ashauch. The exact duration can vary by region and local acharan; follow your panth/sangh’s rule.
What you may do meanwhile
- Do Navkar Mantra, samayik, pratikraman, swadhyay, and shanti-paath at home for equanimity of the soul and your own samyak-bhav.
- You may go to the temple precincts only for quiet darshan from outside the sanctum, without touching murtis, kalash, ghant, etc., if your local maryada permits.
- Follow your local Guru/acharya and your derasar’s written maryada if any differences exist.
