Which sex position is recommended
In Jainism, no sex positions are recommended. The tradition does not discuss techniques or positions.
- For monks and nuns: complete celibacy (brahmacharya mahavrata) is mandatory.
- For householders: the brahmacharya-anuvrata permits relations only with one’s lawful spouse, practiced with restraint, non-violence, fidelity, and self-control—ideally oriented to family life rather than sensual indulgence. Avoid anything that inflames passions or causes harm, deceit, coercion, or infidelity.
Both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions agree on these principles. The focus is on reducing passions (kashayas) and progressing in ahimsa and self-discipline, not on sexual methods.
