Which mantra is powerful for studies for children

    12 months ago 376

In Jain Dharma, the most powerful and universal mantra for children (and everyone) is the Namokar (Navkar) Mantra. It purifies the mind, reduces karmic obstacles, and naturally improves focus and memory needed for study.

    Primary mantra for studies

    • Namokar Mantra (accepted in both Shwetambar and Digambar traditions)
Prakrit: - णमो अरिहंताणं। - णमो सिद्धाणं। - णमो आयरियाणं। - णमो उवज्झायाणं। - णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं॥ Essence (arth): Bowing to Arihanta, Siddha, Acharya, Upadhyaya, and all Sadhus. This five-fold salutation destroys sins and is foremost auspicious. It is not for worldly demands, but it brings inner purity that supports concentration and learning.

    Helpful stavan for learning

    • Saraswati (Shrutadevata) stavan is traditionally used for vidyā (learning). A simple Jain way children can chant is:
    - “Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah.” Use it respectfully as a stuti to the deity of right knowledge; do not mix it with worldly expectations. Shwetambar and Digambar both honor Shrutadevata; specific wordings of stavans may vary by tradition.

How children can practice (very simple)

    • Daily: Chant Navkar 9, 27, or 108 times, morning or before study.
    • Sitting: Clean, quiet place; sit steadily; chant slowly with meaning.
    • Conduct: Keep ahimsa, truthfulness, and study-discipline; pure conduct strengthens the effect of mantra.
    • Begin any study session with Navkar, then (optional) 11, 21, or 27 chants of “Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah,” then start reading.
