Kuldevi of gautamgotra
Short answer: There is no single, universally accepted “Kuldevi” for Gautam gotra among Jains. Jain Agamas do not prescribe a Kuldevi by gotra. Kuldevi traditions are community- and family-based (Oswal/Porwal/Shrimali, region, and lineage). Many Jain families revere a Shasan Devi such as Ambika, Padmavati, or Chakreshwari as their family protector, but which one is “Kuldevi” for a Gautam-gotra family depends on that family’s own ancestral tradition.
- Scriptural focus: In Jain Dharma, primary worship is of the Tirthankaras. Dev/Devis (like Ambika, Padmavati, Chakreshwari) are respected as Shasan Devis/Yakshinis, not as ultimate refuge.
- Practical guidance: Check your family’s kul-patrika/genealogy, old temple inscriptions, or ask elders/trustees of your ancestral upashray/derasar. That will give the authentic family-specific answer.
