I am Shwetambar Jain and aware a bit of process like reciting 3 Nisshi when entering temple.
Beautiful. In the Shwetambar Murtipujak tradition, “Nissihi” (Prakrit: renunciation/putting aside) is said three times to turn the mind away from the world and focus only on Jina-bhakti. Here is the simple, traditional way:
Three Nissihi (Shwetambar)
- First Nissihi (at the temple entrance):
- Second Nissihi (near/at the threshold of the sanctum or vedi):
- Third Nissihi (just before starting puja/chaityavandan or touching puja-dravya):
How to do it simply
- Come clean, modestly dressed, no leather items, keep silence.
- Remove footwear, wash hands if needed.
- Join palms, bow slightly, and recite “Nissihi” each time as above.
- Then do pradakshina, darshan, and if you know it, chaityavandan or ashta‑prakari puja with bhav.
Short, practical sequence inside the derasar 1) First Nissihi at the outer door. 2) Enter calmly; keep eyes and mind steady. 3) Second Nissihi at/near the sanctum or vedi. 4) Pradakshina (usually 3), panchang/ashtanga pranam. 5) Third Nissihi just before puja/chaityavandan. 6) Navkar Mantra, Logassa, chaityavandan or silent contemplation as per your practice.
Notes
- “Nissihi” is not a long mantra; it is a mindful resolve of renunciation each time you say it.
- Local gacha/paddhati may differ slightly; follow your derasar’s maryada if they guide you to place the second/third Nissihi at a specific spot.
