In “Suguru Vandana,” the word “Suguru” means the true, right Guru (Sadguru) who shows the path to liberation. When we recite it, we are bowing to the Panch Parmeshthi:

• Arihant (the supreme living Guru, Tirthankar)
• Siddha (liberated perfected Ones)
• Acharya
• Upadhyaya
• All Sadhus (Saadhus/Saints)

Both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions understand “Suguru” in this way. In day‑to‑day practice it is often directed to one’s present Acharya and the entire saintly order, but its highest sense is reverence to the Panch Parmeshthi, with Arihant Parmatma as the supreme Guru. It is not a request for worldly favors; it is humble veneration for right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct.
