Can u eat wai wai in paryushan
Short answer: No. During Paryushan, it is best to avoid Wai Wai (and all instant/packaged noodles).
Why:
- Paryushan food is kept very simple and pure to uphold ahimsa and self‑restraint. Packet/instant foods are discouraged.
- Most instant noodle masalas contain onion/garlic or doubtful additives; both are avoided in Jain dharma, and even more strictly during Paryushan.
- The festival practice emphasizes no root vegetables, no green leafy vegetables, no fermented items, daylight eating only, and boiled/filtered water. Instant noodles do not fit this spirit of simplicity and restraint.
Both traditions
- Shwetambar (8 days) and Digambar (Das‑Lakshan, 10 days) observe a very restrained diet; outside/processed foods are generally avoided in both.
If someone is not under a stricter vow and still must eat due to health or unavoidable circumstances, the minimum-compromise approach some follow is: cook only the plain noodle at home, discard all masalas, add no root/leafy vegetables, use minimal allowed spices, and eat before sunset with boiled water. But the recommended and traditional path is to avoid it.
