Where is this mahavideha kshetra and where is it? And how to go there ?
Short answer
- Mahavideha Kshetra is not a place on our Earth. In Jain cosmology it is a holy region of the Middle World (Madhyalok) in Jambudweep, situated around Mount Meru. Tirthankars are always present there.
- We cannot go there by any vehicle or space travel. One can reach there only by taking a new birth due to very pure karmas and right spiritual practice.
A little more detail (simple and authentic)
- Location in Jain terms: In the center of the universe (Madhyalok), in Jambudweep, to the north and south of Mount Meru. It is a permanently auspicious land where dharma flourishes and Tirthankars continuously live and preach.
- Present Tirthankars: Both Digambar and Shwetambar traditions accept that Tirthankars are always present in Mahavideha Kshetra. Devotees especially remember Shri Simandhar Swami as a currently living Tirthankar there.
- Physical travel: Impossible from Bharat Kshetra. The separation is cosmic, not just distance. Only beings born there can visit their Tirthankars.
How can one “go” there (the Jain way)
- By becoming worthy of rebirth there through:
- Such purity weakens ghati karmas and, by punya and upasham, one can attain birth in Mahavideha Kshetra, where the path to Kevaljnan is easier.
Traditions
- Digambar and Shwetambar both affirm Mahavideha Kshetra and its ever‑present Tirthankars. Devotional emphasis on Simandhar Swami is especially common among many Shwetambar groups; Digambar texts also describe Mahavideha and its Tirthankars. The spiritual essence is the same: it is a real region in Jain cosmology, not reachable by present‑world travel.
