“Telo upvās” is a colloquial Gujarati way of saying “three upvās,” i.e., doing three consecutive Jain fasts (3 days), as per one’s maryādā:

• Sajala: only boiled water in permitted hours each day.
• Nirjala/Chauvihār: no food and no water.

Note:

• “Telo upvās” is a community term, not a classical sutra term. In scriptures the act is simply three consecutive upvās within the 12 tapas framework; details (water/no water, timings) follow your sect’s and local maryādā.
• Shvetāmbara and Digambara both value the tapa of multi‑day upvās; exact rules can vary by tradition and health capacity.
