Which chovisi is currently running
Chovisi simply means the set of 24 Tirthankaras (the spiritual teachers) who appear in each half-cycle of time. When we say the “current” or present Chovisi (vartaman Chovisi), it refers to the 24 Tirthankaras that are regarded as active in the present cosmic era. Different Jain sects (Digambar and Shwetambar) list the same 24 names but there can be slight textual variations in order or wording in some texts. In general, the present Chovisi ends with Mahavira as the 24th in many commonly used lists, with Rishabhadeva (Adinath) often named first. There is always a living Tirthankar associated with each era/region in Jain cosmology.
