How many Jain gods are there
In Jainism, the core lineage of enlightened teachers is the 24 Tirthankaras. These 24 beings are the revered “teachers” who showed the path to liberation, but they are not creators or gods in the way some other traditions imagine.
Other beings called gods/devas exist in Jain cosmology, and Jains may honor various divine beings, but they are still ordinary souls on different planes of rebirth, not the supreme creator. The 24 Tirthankaras are the principal figures worshipped in Jain practice.
Notes for traditions:
- Digambar and Śvetāmbar traditions both recognize the same 24 Tirthankaras.
- If you’d like the exact names and order of the 24 Tirthankaras, I can list them.
