In Jainism, when we say we forgive “all 7 lakh jiva,” it is not meant as a single, literal group. It comes from the verse called the Sath Lakha Sutra, which lists the 84 lakh (8.4 million) types of living beings in the universe. Among these, 7 lakh refer to major categories of beings whose bodies are formed by earth, water, fire, air, and various plant and animal forms. The idea is to include all living beings in the act of seeking and granting forgiveness, each with the awareness that harm to any soul should be forgiven.
