What is Riddhi
In Jainism, "Riddhi" refers to extraordinary or supernatural powers, achievements, or perfections that can be attained by highly advanced spiritual practitioners through intense penance, meditation, and self-discipline. These powers may include abilities such as clairvoyance, telepathy, levitation, becoming extremely small or large, and so on.
However, Jain teachings emphasize that while Riddhis can manifest as a result of deep spiritual practice, they are not the goal of the spiritual path. In fact, attachment to or pride in such powers is considered a hindrance (obstacle) to true liberation (moksha). Jain scriptures and teachers advise practitioners not to be distracted by Riddhis, but to remain focused on the ultimate goal of freeing the soul from karma and attaining liberation.
