Can u give step by step of chaityvandan

    10 months ago 445

Certainly! Chaityavandan is a significant daily ritual in Jainism, involving prayers, recitation of sutras, and expressions of reverence towards the Tirthankaras and Jain ideals. Here is a step-by-step outline commonly followed by Shwetambar Murtipujak Jains (note that there might be slight variations according to sect and tradition):

    ---

    Step-by-Step Chaityavandan Procedure

    1. Preparation

    • Bathe and wear clean, simple clothes.
    • Sit in a peaceful, clean place facing the image or photo of the Tirthankara or in the direction of a Jain temple (Chaitya).

    2. Pranama (Salutation)

    • Fold hands and recite the Namokar Mantra (Navkar Mantra) three times, offering salutations to the Panch Parmesthi.

    3. Kayotsarga (Standing Meditation)

    • Stand erect, keep arms slightly away from the body, eyes half-closed, and remain motionless.
    • Recite Logassa Sutra and other Kayotsarga sutras (as per tradition), remembering the 24 Tirthankaras.

    4. Iryavahiya Sutra

    • Recite the Iryavahiya Sutra to seek forgiveness for any violence committed while walking.

    5. Tassa Uttari Karana

    • Recite this to shed minor karmas and request for removal of obstacles in the path of spiritual progress.

    6. Pratikraman (Introspection and Repentance)

    • Reflect on any wrongdoings and repent.
    • Recite Samayik, Pratikraman, and Alochana sutras.
    • Seek forgiveness (Khamemi Savve Jiva…).

    7. Vandan (Salutation)

    • Perform Chaityavandan by reciting the Chaitya Vandan Sutras.
    • Bow down before the Tirthankara image or symbol.
    • Perform Khamasana (kneeling and touching the head to the ground) as a mark of respect.

    8. Stuti and Kshamapana

    • Recite stutis (hymns of praise) and ask for forgiveness for any mistakes in the ritual.

    9. Manglik and Mangal Path

    • Recite Manglik for the welfare of all living beings and conclude with Mangal Path (auspicious recitation).

    10. Conclusion

    • End with a prayer for universal peace and well-being.
    • Offer mental obeisance to all teachers and saints.
