Can you eat turnip
In Jainism, most practitioners avoid root vegetables because uprooting the plant can harm tiny life forms. Turnip is a root vegetable, so it is generally not eaten by strict Jains.
Note: there are minor differences between Digambara and Śvetāmbara traditions in some practices, but the common and traditionally emphasized rule is to refrain from eating root vegetables like turnips.
