Paryushan days name
Paryushan Parva is a major Jain festival of penance.
- Shwetambar tradition: observed for 10 days. The days are usually just counted as Pratipada, Dwitiya, Tritiya, Chaturthi, Panchami, Shashthi, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami, and Dashami, with Samvatsari (the day of forgiveness) falling on the last day (Dashami).
- Digambar tradition: observed for 8 days, typically from Pratipada to Ashtami (the exact day names are counted in the same sequence, but for eight days).
Note: Samvatsari is specifically the forgiveness day in the Shwetambar practice.
