As a jain what should they do each and every day without failed

    one year ago 122

In Jainism, daily practices (known as "nitya kriya") are important to maintain spiritual discipline and progress on the path of liberation. A devout Jain is encouraged to perform the following activities each day without fail:

    1. Pratah Smaran (Morning Remembrance): Upon waking, remember the Tirthankaras (spiritual teachers) and express gratitude.
    1. Samayik: Perform Samayik (meditation for equanimity) for at least 48 minutes, focusing on developing equanimity and detachment.
    1. Pratikraman: Engage in Pratikraman (introspection and repentance) to reflect on one’s actions, seek forgiveness, and resolve to avoid harmful actions.
    1. Dev, Guru, Dharma Vandana: Offer prayers and veneration to the Arihants (liberated souls), Siddhas (perfected souls), Acharyas (spiritual leaders), Upadhyayas (teachers), and Sadhus (monks).
    1. Study of Scriptures: Study Jain scriptures or listen to discourses to deepen understanding of Jain principles.
    1. Observance of Ahimsa: Practice non-violence in thought, word, and deed throughout the day.
    1. Dietary Restrictions: Eat only pure vegetarian food, and if possible, restrict eating to daylight hours (especially for those following stricter vows).
    1. Charity and Compassion: Practice dana (charity), help others, and show compassion to all living beings.
    1. Nightly Pratikraman: Before sleeping, perform a shorter Pratikraman to reflect on the day and seek forgiveness for any harm caused.

These practices help a Jain cultivate right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct (Samyak Darshan, Samyak Gyan, Samyak Charitra), which are the three jewels of Jainism and essential for spiritual progress.
