Digambar Jains observe Paryushan as Das Lakshan Parva, a 10-day festival focused on practicing the ten supreme virtues. Here are the days and their meanings:

    1) Uttam Kshama — Supreme Forgiveness

    • Seek and grant forgiveness to cleanse karma and cultivate peace.

    2) Uttam Mardava — Supreme Humility/Modesty

    • Practice humility in thoughts, words, and actions.

    3) Uttam Arjava — Supreme Straightforwardness/Honesty

    • Speak truth with honesty and clarity, without deceit.

    4) Uttam Shauch — Supreme Purity/Contentment

    • Purity of body, mind, and deeds; simple, content living.

    5) Uttam Satya — Supreme Truth

    • Uphold truth in every intention and action.

    6) Uttam Sanyam — Supreme Self-restraint

    • Exercise self-control over senses and desires.

    7) Uttam Tap — Supreme Austerity

    • Endure hardships and practice disciplined living.

    8) Uttam Tyag — Supreme Renunciation

    • Renounce unnecessary attachments and comforts.

    9) Uttam Akinchanya — Supreme Non-attachment

    • Rise above possessiveness and cravings.

    10) Uttam Brahmacharya — Supreme Celibacy/Chastity

    • Observe fidelity and sexual purity.

Common practices during this period (Digambar):

    • Daily pratikraman (self-reflection), fasting or restrained eating, meditation, and reading scriptures.
    • Forgiveness recitations and acts of compassion; generosity and helping others.

Note on timing and last day:

    • Das Lakshan Parva starts after the end of the Shwetambar Paryushan and lasts 10 days.
    • The day of forgiveness in Digambar tradition is Kshamavani (Uttam Kshama on the first day of Das Lakshan). It is distinct from Shwetambar Samvatsari, which falls on the last day of Shwetambar Paryushan. For details and daily practice, you can read more here
