What is day 1 of Paryushan for digambar

For Digambar Jains, Paryushan is observed as Das Lakshana Parva (10 days). Day 1 is Kshama — Forgiveness.

What Day 1 means

• Name: Uttam Kshama (Supreme Forgiveness)
• Focus: Begin pratikraman and vow to practice forgiveness toward all beings. Set the intention to forgive others and seek forgiveness for any faults from the past year.
• Practices often started on Day 1: satya (truth), ahimsa (non-violence) in daily conduct, and beginning or continuing swadhyay (scripture study), along with a renewed commitment to discipline and self-purification.

In short, Day 1 is about recognizing and practicing forgiveness as the foundation for the rest of the Das Lakshana days.
