How many Swarg (devlok) are there?
In Jain cosmology, the Swarg (devlok) or heavenly realms are 16 in number. These are the Deva-lokas that reside in the upper world (Urdhva Loka).
The 16 heavens are named as:
- Saudharma
- Ishana
- Sanatkumara
- Mahendra
- Brahma
- Brahmottara
- Lantava
- Kapishta
- Shukra
- Mahashukra
- Shatara
- Sahasrara
- Anata
- Pranata
- Arana
- Achyuta
Beyond these heavens lies the Siddhashila, the realm of liberated souls.
Note: This understanding is shared across Jain traditions (Digambara and Śvētāmbara) with the same basic framework of the 16 Devalokas. For a compact reference, you can read more on JainKnowledge.
