Sharan ke name
In Jainism, the term "Sharan" refers to taking refuge or seeking shelter, especially in the context of the "Three Jewels" (Ratnatraya). The "Sharan" or refuges are:
- Arihant Sharanam Pavajjami – I take refuge in the Arihants (the enlightened beings who have conquered inner passions).
- Siddha Sharanam Pavajjami – I take refuge in the Siddhas (liberated souls).
- Sangha Sharanam Pavajjami – I take refuge in the Sangha (community of true ascetics and followers).
Sometimes, the "Dharma" is also mentioned:
- Dhamma Sharanam Pavajjami – I take refuge in the Dharma (the teachings).
These "Sharan" are recited as part of Jain prayers and rituals, signifying surrender and seeking guidance from these supreme ideals.
