Can a guy have girlfriend
In Jainism, relationships are guided by ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truth), and self-control.
- Monks and nuns: take strict celibacy and do not engage in romantic relationships.
- Householders (gruhasthas): marriage is allowed and is considered a sacred, disciplined path. Physical relations are ideally kept within the bonds of marriage and with respect, fidelity, and non-harm.
Having a girlfriend outside of a committed, married relationship is generally not in line with traditional Jain ethical guidance. If you are young, Jain teachers would encourage self-control, right conduct, and focusing on spiritual growth rather than pursuing romantic entanglements that could lead to harm or attachment.
If you’d like, I can explain more about the Jain understanding of vartā (householder duties) or celibacy in different Jain traditions.
