In Jainism, Mahavir (also known as Vardhamana Mahavira) was born as a kshatriya prince. He attained Kevala Jnana (omniscience) and became a Tirthankar at the age of 42 after practicing deep meditation and severe austerities for 12 years. From that point, he preached the Jain teachings for 30 years until his nirvana at the age of 72.
