2nd day of daslakshan
2nd day of Das Lakshan Parva (Digambar tradition) is Uttam Mardav — Supreme Humility.
Arth (meaning) in Jainism:
- Mardav means humility, modesty, and absence of ego. It is about seeing every soul with equal respect, keeping the ego in check, and acting without pride.
- Practically, it means: receive feedback with an open mind, speak softly, and refrain from boasting or looking down on others. It helps reduce the kashaya of pride and supports right faith (Samyak Darshan).
Notes:
- This is the standard meaning for the Digambar Das Lakshan Parva. In Shwetambar Paryushan, the analogous day/virtue remains humility-centered but the naming and sequencing can differ.
