In Jain tradition, “Anathi Muni” refers to a monk who did not have any parents or guardians ("Anathi" means "without support" or "parentless"). The most well-known Anathi Muni is a character in Jain scriptures associated with Lord Mahavira’s time.

According to Jain texts, Anathi Muni was previously known as Anathi Kumar before he renounced the world and became a monk. Some Jain stories narrate that he was an orphan prince or a boy who did not have any parents, and Lord Mahavira showed great compassion towards him. After receiving initiation (diksha), he became known as Anathi Muni.

Thus, the previous name of Anathi Muni was Anathi Kumar.
