Can we use orchids for Prabhu
Yes, orchids can be offered, but with care to follow ahimsa (non-violence).
- Jain practice prefers minimal harm to living beings. If flowers are used in dravya-puja, they should be chosen and offered in a way that reduces harm as much as possible.
- If possible, use flowers that have fallen or were detached without plucking live plants. Avoid uprooting or harming buds, leaves, or roots.
- Use the smallest necessary quantity, and take care to avoid insects on the flowers.
- In many traditions (Digambar and Shwetambar), the emphasis is on bhava-puja (inner devotion) first; if you do dravya-puja, these guidelines help keep ahimsa central.
