How many times can you drink water in 10 days Das Lakshan fast
In a 10-day Das Lakshan period, there isn’t a fixed number of times you may drink water. The rule is:
- You may drink boiled and filtered water only during the daylight window each day, i.e., from after Navkarsi (roughly after sunrise) until sunset.
- After sunset, no water is consumed until the next day’s daylight window.
- Some practitioners keep the intake very modest to minimize harm (himsa), but the exact number of sips isn’t prescribed; it depends on your health and tradition.
Differences:
- Shvetambar and Digambar communities generally follow the same daylight-only rule, but some sub-traditions may have stricter limits on timing or quantity.
