According to Jain tradition, all 24 Tirthankaras of the current time cycle (Avasarpini) were male. There is no female Tirthankara in the orthodox Jain canon. However, some sects, particularly certain Shvetambara traditions, revere Mallinatha (the 19th Tirthankara) as having been female, while Digambara tradition maintains that all Tirthankaras were male. Thus, the name associated with the only female Tirthankara in some Shvetambara texts is Mallinatha.
