    Two sisters who were sati

    one year ago 125

In Jainism, the concept of "sati" (self-immolation on a husband's funeral pyre) is not promoted or encouraged. Jain philosophy emphasizes ahimsa (non-violence) and the sanctity of all life, including one's own. However, in the context of Jain literature and history, there are accounts of women who are venerated for their steadfastness, sacrifice, and devotion, but not specifically for the act of sati as understood in other Indian traditions.

One famous story from Jain tradition is about the two sisters, Anjana and Anjili, who were the mothers of Lord Mahavira and his cousin respectively. However, they are not associated with the practice of sati.

If you are referring to Jain stories or legends involving two sisters who performed acts of great sacrifice or devotion, please provide more context or clarification. But to reiterate, the practice of sati is not a Jain doctrine, and Jain scriptures and teachings do not glorify self-immolation or suicide in any form. Jainism upholds the principle of preserving life and practicing non-violence above all.
