what mantra should i recite for gyan accumulating gyan and knowledge better

    12 months ago 188

Here are Jain mantras that help focus on knowledge (gyan) and inner clarity.

    1) Navkar (Namokar) Mantra Original (Prakrit): णमो अरिहंताणं णमो सिद्धाणं णमो आयरियाणं णमो उवज्झायाणं णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं Eso panch namokkaro, savva-pavappanasano Mangalanam cha savvesim, padhamam havai mangalam

Simple meaning (arth): I bow to the five supreme beings—Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas, and all Sadhus—so that my mind is cleansed, and I gain right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct. This venerates knowledge and virtue and helps purify the mind on the path to liberation.

Note on tradition: This mantra is central and recited across Digambar and Shwetambar traditions, with minor pronunciation variations but the same spiritual intent.

    2) Om hrīm namo nanassa (knowledge-focused mantra) Text (as used in practice): Om hrīm namo nanassa

Meaning: A salutation to knowledge itself, recognizing that right knowledge (samya gyan) is essential for liberation. This mantra is often chanted to bless one’s memory and understanding in studies and spiritual learning.

    Optional supportive note:

    • Saraswati-related invocation for knowledge is also used by some Jains as a devotional aid for study and wisdom. If you choose to use it, do so with pure intention and reverence for knowledge. You can read about a commonly used Saraswati invocation here

If you’d like, I can share a short daily recitation kit (order of recitations and a simple meditation) centered on Navkar and the knowledge-focused mantra.
