The story of mahavira for children
Certainly! Here is a simple version of the story of Mahavira, suitable for children:
The Story of Mahavira
A long time ago, in India, there was a kind and wise prince named Vardhamana. He was born in a royal family, and his parents were King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. From a very young age, Vardhamana was gentle, loving, and always tried to help others. He was very brave and strong, too.
As Vardhamana grew up, he saw that there was a lot of suffering in the world. People were unhappy, animals were hurt, and there was a lot of fighting. He wanted to find a way for everyone to live in peace and happiness.
When he was 30 years old, Vardhamana decided to leave his palace and family to search for the truth and find a way to end suffering. For twelve years, he lived a very simple life. He walked from place to place, without any possessions, and he practiced non-violence (ahimsa), truthfulness (satya), and kindness to every living being.
After many years of meditation and hard work, Vardhamana found enlightenment. He became known as Mahavira, which means “Great Hero.” He taught everyone that we should not hurt any living thing, and we should be honest, kind, and fair to all. He taught the importance of forgiveness, compassion, and self-control.
Mahavira’s teachings became the foundation of Jainism, a peaceful religion that teaches us to respect all living beings. Even today, Jains all over the world remember Mahavira and try to follow his teachings of non-violence and love for all.
Moral: Mahavira’s life teaches us to be kind, gentle, and truthful, and to care for all living things.
