During earlier period, this was known as Rajmannargudi. This temple is believed to have been built in 12th century A.D. during the reign of Chola kings. It is considered as one among the ancient famous shrines of Tamil Nadu. The idols of Goddess Sri Saraswati, Sri Padmavati, Sri Dharmadevi, Sri Jwalamalini etc., in this temple are very strikingly impressive. Every year on Vaishakh Sukla Dasami, a Brahma festival is organized here when numerous devotees gather and actively participate in prayers and worship. The Lords idol here is very attractive.Besides this there is no other temple nearby.
